Spring Yard: Yard Maintenance & City Ordinances
6/2/2026
As we head into summer, the City of Indianola would like to remind residents of improtant yard and maintenance requrements outlined in the City Code:
Weeds and Grass Height: City ordinance requires that weeds, grasses, and vegetation must be kept under 8 inches in height, including the alley.
Property Cleanliness: It is unlawful to allow garbage, junk, debris, or waste to accumulate on your property.
Nuisances: Conditions such as noxious weeds, building rubble, litter, stagnant water, and unlicensed vehicles are considered public nuisances and must be addressed.
Notice and Enforcement: If a property is found in violation, notice will be provided. If not corrected, the City may take action to abate the issue, and costs may be assessed to the property owner.
Free City-wide dumpster: City residents are allowed to use the free city-wide dumpster the Council provides. It is available April 1 - June 30. Please adhere to rules of dumpster.
Keeping your yard maintained helps protect property values, reduce pests, and keeps our community looking its best.
Thank you for your cooperation in keeping Indianola clean and safe.
